When members of the British Texel Society proposed the formation of a North West Texel Breeders’ Club , they were unsuspecting of the overwhelming reponse they would receive. Over 75 breeders from the area attended a meeting at the 'Tickled Trout Hotel' , Salmesbury, Nr. Preston on 15th February 1982 and quickly made it evident they wanted a club second to none in the country. Mr. Charles Wright, President of the British Texel Society, opened the meeting by giving information on the clubs already in existence and this led to the formation of the North West Texel Breeders’ Club with a committee comprised of:

Chairman, Duncan Currie, Beautry House, Rathmell, Settle; Secretary/Treasurer, Ian Bates, Cocksmoss Farm, Marton, Nr. Macclesfield, Cheshire; Gordon Lockhart and George hunter, Cumbria; Frank Jackson and John Barber, North Lancs; Mike Perrins, Mid Lancs; Geoff Boden, Cheshire.
